Welcome to Yogyakarta! Our team will pick you up at the airport or train station and take you for lunch.
After lunch, you will visit Prambanan, a Hindu temple complex located near Yogyakarta, Central Java, Indonesia. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest temple complexes in Southeast Asia. The temple is dedicated to the Trimurti, the three main Hindu deities—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
In the evening, you will enjoy dinner and watch the Ramayana ballet performance held at Prambanan. Ramayana Sendratari is a traditional Javanese dance drama that depicts the story of Ramayana, an ancient Indian epic. Ramayana narrates the journey of Prince Rama as he rescues his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana with the help of the monkey god Hanuman and his monkey army. The performance typically involves elaborate costumes, artistic dance choreography, and live gamelan music, creating a captivating show. Ramayana holds deep cultural and religious significance in Hinduism and has been retold in various forms across different cultures in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia.
After breakfast, we will take you to Borobudur, the magnificent Buddhist temple located in Central Java, Indonesia. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest Buddhist temples in the world. Borobudur is renowned for its stunning architecture and intricate reliefs. The temple consists of multiple tiers, each representing a stage of enlightenment.
Next, you will visit Candirejo, a traditional Javanese village located near Borobudur. Here, you will get a glimpse into the local Javanese lifestyle and immerse yourself in cultural activities such as batik making, farming, and traditional Javanese dance performances.
After lunch, we will visit Kaliadem near Mount Merapi, an active volcano in Central Java. During your time there, you can learn about the volcano's history and witness the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Today you will visit Dieng, a highland region in Central Java, Indonesia. The journey to Dieng involves winding roads that offer breathtaking views. This highland area holds cultural significance, with a history dating back to ancient times. It is home to several Hindu temples, dating from the 8th and 9th centuries, reflecting the historical and religious significance of the region. Dieng is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, including volcanic craters, lakes, and green hills.
On the last day before your transfer out, you will visit the Yogyakarta Palace, known as Keraton Yogyakarta, a complex that reflects the grandeur and cultural heritage of Java. With its beautiful architecture and rich artistic details, Keraton Yogyakarta is a symbol of power and traditional beauty. You can explore the palace's rooms, view art collections, and understand its rich history.
Next, you will head to Taman Sari, a former royal complex that is truly remarkable. This place is renowned for its beautiful swimming pool and lush gardens. Here, you can experience the elegance and tranquility of the water gardens designed for the enjoyment of the royal family in the past.
After lunch, we will take you to Malioboro, the main street in downtown Yogyakarta, famous for its various shops, stalls, and shopping attractions.
This tour has an age range of 12-70 years old, this means children under the age of 12 will not be eligible to participate in this tour. However, if you are over 70 years please contact us as you may be eligible to join the tour if you fill out G Adventures self-assessment form.
